Our Commitment to Community: A Journey of Giving Back

At Elevation 2477′, we hold our Nevada City and Grass Valley communities close to our hearts. We’re not just about offering you an awesome dispensary experience; we’re also all in when it comes to making our local community even better. We believe in the power of a strong local community and we celebrate the notion that a rising tide lifts all boats. That’s why we actively collaborate with fantastic local nonprofits like The Center for the Arts, Miners Foundry, Nevada County Food Bank, Hospitality House Shelter, Rudiger Foundation, Bear Yuba Land Trust, Nevada City Farmer’s Market and Nevada County Cannabis Alliance to help make our home a more vibrant and beautiful place to live — for everyone

In this blog post, we’ll share our ongoing efforts to support local nonprofits and share ways for you, our valued customers, to join us in spreading love and goodwill throughout Nevada County. Discover the impact we’re making, and learn how you can get involved in our mission to make our wonderful community even better.

The November Food & Coat Drives: Warming Hearts in Winter

Every year, from November 1st to the day before Thanksgiving, Elevation 2477′ transforms into a hub of warmth and giving. Our month-long food and coat drives benefit two essential organizations: the Nevada County Food Bank and the Hospitality House Shelter. These drives ensure that those in need have access to essential resources during the cold winter months.

Your visit to our dispensary in November provides the opportunity to contribute to a noteworthy cause. By bringing non-perishable food items, you can help stock the shelves of the Nevada County Food Bank, ensuring that local families facing food insecurity have access to nutritious meals.

As you rummage through your closet, looking for warm coats, boots, and snow pants that don’t quite fit anymore… Now’s the time to put them to good use. We also collect men’s & women’s new or gently-used coats, warm winter clothing, boots and athletic shoes, bedding, and toiletries for donation to the Hospitality House Shelter. Your contributions provide warmth and comfort to individuals experiencing homelessness, especially during cold winter nights.  Elevation 2477 Nevada City dispensary annual Thanksgiving food and coat drive collection needs

  • Donate a bundle of 10 or more canned or non-perishable Thanksgiving food items

Volunteering at the Nevada County Food Bank: Elevation 2477′ in Action

Our commitment to the community goes beyond collecting donations, too. We actively participate in local events that make a tangible impact on the lives of less fortunate local residents, like our recent participation in the Nevada County Food Bank’s third annual 10,000 Meals event, or by lending a hand at one of their weekly drive-thru food distribution days.

Packing 10,000 Meals for Northern California Residents

For the third consecutive year, the Nevada County Food Bank’s 10,000 meals initiative united local groups, businesses, and volunteers,  to combat food insecurity. Volunteers gathered around tables, assembling meals with lively music in the background. Despite aiming for 10,000 meals this year (last year, the NVFB surpassed it with 15,000), the atmosphere was filled with friendly competition, creating a joyful and fulfilling volunteer experience. The dedicated team of volunteers, which included Elevation employees, successfully packed 10,000 meals on October 25th, 2023, demonstrating the unwavering commitment to our community.

Our Purchasing Manager, Govinda McComb, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to contribute, underscoring Elevation 2477’s enduring commitment to making a positive impact:

“Elevation has been a part of this community for over 5 years now, and I’ve had the opportunity to represent us in all sorts of fun and meaningful ways over the years, like cooking and serving meals at the Hospitality House, picking up trash along the Little Deer Creek Trail, painting the curbs for the Nevada City Cleanup, and packing meals at the Nevada County Food Bank. I’m grateful for the support from Elevation to participate in our beautiful community.”

Lending a Hand at the Food Bank’s Drive-Thru Food Distribution

Every week, the Nevada County Food Bank hosts regular drive-thru food distributions in Grass Valley, providing a crucial service for local individuals.

Our team is excited to be involved in an upcoming distribution on Nov. 16, 2023, particularly during the holiday season. Every Thursday, food distribution takes place, and an additional date is added in November for holiday assistance. We’ll be helping to load food boxes into the cars of those in need, ensuring that essential resources are readily available to all members of our community.

Ways to Contribute Locally and Give Back

For those who wish to make a positive impact on our community, there are several opportunities worth considering:

  • Volunteer at local shelters: Organizations like the Hospitality House Shelter and others in the area welcome volunteers. Your time and support can make a significant difference in the lives of those in need.
  • Donate non-perishable food: Beyond the month of November, consider regular contributions to the Nevada County Food Bank and other food assistance programs. Even small gestures of support can yield substantial results. (Here’s a list of some upcoming family-friendly volunteer opportunities with the Food Bank)
  • Participate in local charity events: Keep an eye out for upcoming charity events and fundraisers in Nevada City and Grass Valley. Your participation in these events can foster a more compassionate and resilient community, whether it’s a charity run or a fundraising dinner.

Elevation 2477′ is not just a Nevada City dispensary; we are a part of this vibrant community.
